How to Reset Ford Keyless Entry without Factory Code

Forgot your factory code? Don’t worry, here is how you can find your keyless entry code even if you didn’t get the factory code in the first place.

Have you ever been in a situation where you wish you had your door keypad code memorized? Don’t worry; we have all been there. Normally, a factory code card will come with your vehicle when you buy a car brand new.

It will be either in your owner’s manual or on the side of the keys. But a lot of times, if you buy a vehicle used or sometimes the dealership mess things up and you didn’t get the factory code, this is how you can find it.

Now, keep in mind that it’s impossible to reset ford keyless entry code without factory code. So, I’ll be showing you how you can retrieve the factory code first.

How To Find Your Keyless Entry Code?

There are two methods for this. If you don’t have a push to start button and a keyless fob vehicle, you can use your normal keys to find out the code. If you have them, there is a different method for that.

You have to use both sets of keys for these methods to work. If you have both sets, you are in luck. Let me show you how to retrieve your factory door code out of a Ford vehicle.

Method 1 For Regular Keys

Note: This method will require both sets of keys.

Vehicle Model: 2016 Ford F150

Okay, so for the first method I will be showing you how you can find the factory door code on a 2016 Ford F150. As you know, it does not have a push to start button; rather it uses a regular key.

As I said before, you will need two sets of keys. These are the steps that you need to.

1. First of all, you need to insert the key into the ignition switch.

2. Turn the key to the on position only where the lights come on the vehicle dash and not the engine itself. You don’t want to turn on the engine. You need to wait until you reach 4 seconds.

3. Take the first key out and insert the second key and repeat the process.

4. Now, you should be able to see the factory keypad code displayed on the dash.

This is how simple it is to find the factory code. This trick will save you literally 100 dollars if you go to a dealership. This is one of the things that the dealership owners don’t want you to know.

Let me show you how you can do this on the smart key technology vehicles.

Method 2 For Keyless Vehicles

Note: This method will require both sets of keys.

Vehicle Model: 2017 Ford Super Duty

For this method, I will be showing you how you can find your door factory key code on the 2017 Ford Super Duty because this vehicle has the smart key technology and the process is almost same for all of Ford’s keyless vehicles.

For this method, you need to perform an extra step for this trick to work. There is a module embedded in the center console of the truck that is able to read the chip that’s inside of each of the keyless fobs.

So, the first thing you need to do is find that area where you can basically have the module read the chip that’s on the key. In this case for the Super Duty, is go into the center console and take the first tray out.

After that, you will either see the cutout or a second tray. If you see the second tray, you should also take that out and then you will be able to see the cutout for your key.

Now, once you find that spot, these are methods that you need to do.

1. After you remove the plastic and the rubber tray pieces from the center console, get your keys ready because you do have to do this in a quick matter manner.

2. Now, what you are going to do is put these keys with the buttons facing down on the center cut out.

3. After that, press the start button to turn it on and wait about 4 seconds.

4. Now, after waiting for 4 seconds, press the button again to turn it off and take the first key out.

5. Place the other key in the same way and repeat the process. Turn the switch one.

6. After waiting for 4 seconds, you will see the factory keypad code on the dash of your vehicle.

That’s all for now. These are the easiest tricks I know, and hopefully, they will do the trick for most of Ford’s vehicles.
